This explains what ReviewGun collects, why, and what you can ask us to do about it. The short version: we collect what is needed to run the service, we do not sell it, and we do not run advertising trackers on you.

What we collect

We do not store your customers' mobile numbers anywhere except as part of your own request history, and no customer ever creates an account or downloads an app to leave you a review.

  • Your account: the email address and password you sign up with. Passwords are stored in a hashed form by our authentication layer — we cannot read them.
  • Your business details, as you enter them: business name, trade, crew size, your Google review link, and the text message template you save.
  • Your review requests: the customer name, mobile number and message text of each request you compose, and when you sent it. This is what makes your request history work.
  • Team details on the Pro plan: the email address of each technician you invite and whether the invitation was accepted, so the history can show who sent what.
  • Billing information: your Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, plan, trial end date and payment status. Card numbers go directly to Stripe and never reach our servers.
  • If you ask for a walkthrough from our website: your name, business name, trade, crew size, email address, optional mobile number, the plan you are interested in, and anything you write to us.
  • Crash reports: if a page of the app hits an error, we record the error and the page it happened on so we can fix it. We do not record your customer data in these reports.
  • Technical information needed for security, such as the time of sign-in attempts, used to stop abuse and to keep your account safe.

Why we use it

We do not use your data, or your customers' data, for advertising, and we do not sell it to anyone.

  • To run the service: composing your requests, saving your business details and showing your history.
  • To take payment and manage your subscription, including the end of your free trial.
  • To email you about your account — a welcome message, a reminder before your trial converts, a nudge if you have not set up your review link yet, and a monthly summary on the Pro plan.
  • To fix faults, using crash and error information.
  • To prevent abuse, spam and unauthorised access.

Who we share it with

That is the whole list. We do not sell, rent or trade personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.

We may disclose information if the law requires it, for example in response to a valid legal request.

  • Stripe — to process payments and manage your subscription.
  • Our transactional email provider — to deliver the account emails described above. It does not receive your customer list.
  • Our hosting and database provider — the infrastructure that stores and serves your data.

Cookies and your browser

We use your browser's local storage to keep you signed in between visits. That is what makes the app usable on a phone without signing in every time.

We do not run advertising or third-party tracking cookies on the site.

How long we keep it

Your account, business details and request history are kept while your account is active, so the service works if you come back after cancelling.

Ask us to delete your account and we will remove your account and the data tied to it, other than records we are required to keep — billing records, for example, have to be retained for tax and accounting purposes.

Keeping it secure

Passwords are hashed, access is restricted on the server so that one business's records cannot be read by another, and billing is handled by Stripe rather than by us.

No system is perfectly secure, and no data transmission over the internet can be guaranteed. If we ever become aware of a breach affecting your data, we will tell you.

Your choices

Email [email protected] and a person will handle it.

  • Ask us for a copy of the data we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct anything that is wrong — most of it you can edit yourself in the dashboard.
  • Ask us to delete your account and its data.
  • Ask us to stop sending you non-essential email. Account and billing emails, such as the trial reminder, are part of the service and are sent while you have a plan.

Children

ReviewGun is a tool for businesses and is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
