How to find your Google review link
Your review link is the single most valuable thing you can put in a text message. It takes a customer straight to the box where they leave stars. Without it, you are asking someone to search for your business and find the review button themselves — and most people will not bother.
Here is where to find it, how to check it is the right one, and what to do with it once you have it.
Finding your review link, step by step
1Sign in to your Google Business Profile
Go to business.google.com and sign in with the Google account that manages your listing. If somebody else set it up — an agency, a family member, the guy who used to do your website — you may need to ask them for manager access first.
2Choose your business, then look for "Ask for reviews"
Google labels this differently in different places, but the wording is always about getting reviews. It hands you a shareable link, and often a QR code with it. That link is the one you want.
3Or grab it straight from Search or Maps
Search your own business name on Google. On your listing there is an option for asking customers for reviews, which shows the same link with a copy button. This is often quicker on a phone.
4Test it in a private window
Paste it into an incognito or private browsing tab. You should land on a page that lets you leave stars immediately. If you land on your business profile instead and have to hunt for the review button, you have the wrong link — that hunt is exactly what loses you reviews.
No Business Profile yet? You have to create and verify one before any of this works, and verification can take a few days. Do it now rather than the week you decide to start asking for reviews.
A profile link is not a review link
This is the mistake that quietly costs contractors reviews. The address of your Business Profile — the page with your photos, hours and phone number — is not the same as the link that opens the review form. Send somebody your profile and they have to find the review section themselves, decide what to write, and then write it. Every one of those steps is somewhere to give up.
The review link removes all of it. One tap, stars, done — while they are still standing in front of you, and while the job is still fresh in their mind.
When you have the link
- Save it somewhere you will find it — a note in your phone, your invoice template, a bookmark. You only ever need to copy it once more.
- Paste it into your review request template so every text carries it automatically.
- Print the QR code and stick it on the invoice, the counter, or the truck. Same link, no typing.
- Send it after the job, not days later. The best moment is the one where the customer is thanking you.
Printing the code rather than typing the link? Check it points at the review box before you print a stack of them — that one mistake is what makes a counter card and an invoice code produce nothing.
ReviewGun stores the link for you
Paste it in once. Every request then goes out from your own phone with the link already in it, and the QR code is there when a phone is not.
Questions we get about review links
- Where do I find my Google review link?
- In your Google Business Profile at business.google.com, under the option for asking customers for reviews. You can also get it from your listing in Google Search or Maps. Either way you get a short link that opens your review box directly.
- Do I need a Google Business Profile to collect reviews?
- Yes. Reviews live on your Business Profile, so the profile has to be created and verified before you have a review box for customers to land on. Verification can take a few days, which is why it is worth doing before you need it.
- Why does my link open my profile instead of the review form?
- That is the most common mix-up. The plain address of your profile is not the same as the link that opens the review box. Sending someone to your profile makes them find the review button themselves, and most will not bother. Always use the link you get from the "ask for reviews" option and check it in a private window.
- Can I use the same link for every customer?
- Yes. The link never changes, so you save it once and every request uses it. That is what ReviewGun stores: you paste it in a single time and every text you send from then on carries it automatically.
The wording matters too
